Stretch of the Week: Supine Stretch

Feeling aches and pains in your lower back? This will not only relieve your pain but can increase your flexibility when done daily.

Dr. Parson here. Diana again. You know her well. This is Supine stretch. Commonly used by Physical Therapists. Everybody seems to prescribe this because it feels good and it works. But, there's a certain thing you have to do to make it really effective. So, straighten this one. We'll just go this way and she should bring this knee up. People can often times get to there but that's not quite enough. We're gonna hand the knee. Look away, shoulder down. So take a deep breath. Breathe, and breathe out. Always stretch on the breath out. Take a deep breath and let it out, and the knee goes down. But, she also needs the knee to go up. To get the knee on the ground, it takes time. Don't hurry it, but breathe, and let it out. To get that shoulder down, you might get a spouse to press down on that shoulder to help hold that down. So, we'll call this Supine Stretch. Good Luck!
