Weekly Health Talk with Dr. P: Life Lessons

This week's episode of "Weekly Health Talk with Dr. P" features a tip that if mastered, your back will never hurt!
Stretch of the week: Standing up
Get up the right way! This movement takes practice, but standing up the right way will never hurt your back.

All right Dr. P here with Diana. Uh, not necessarily exercises but life lessons. One of the things you see with back pain patients and you know it if you've had it. Uh like lurch and coming out it hurts to get up and down from seated position. Now especially if you've done some of these workouts, you're gonna get a little stronger. But this is the way your back will never hurt if you master this. It takes practice, you won't do it right the first time but that's okay. It just takes working at this. In other words, back pain  patient will come straight up here. The worst thing he does, he ends up right here and tries to come up from deep in that in this. So, first thing you always slide to the edge of any chair or couch that you're in. So, the next thing is that you do not want to end up right here. I expect her to not be straightened up so she's way out over here. So, what she does is she assumes kind of a runner's stance in this position. I'm going to put some weight in here and put some weight in her hips, slightly bend over and slowly walk, and get her hips underneath her. All right so she's not pulling up with her back, we're trying to get our hips underneath us. All right let's practice. We aren’t gonna get this the first time. all right, come out this way, boom. now that she just got it, developed it, the light just came on, right? Okay it's not as hard as it looked but we want to run out here but it's just to get the bottom half underneath you instead of raising up with the upper half. Your back will never hurt if you learn to do this and take better care of it. So, uh  practice that it's what you do every day if you need it all right. Thanks.
