Weekly Health Talk with Dr. P: Cumulative Trauma

Have you ever had pain just ,wham, hit you out of nowhere? It happens to the best of us. More than likely, this pain is due to cumulative trauma to your spine caused by a singular traumatic event. Learn more about cumulative trauma in this week's "Health Talk with Dr. P!"

Hey gang, Dr. Parson here. I'm here to talk about lower back pain and lower back pain specifically regarding disc injuries. So, causes are many but they share a common element: trauma. Common events, but most of them are under the cumulative trauma. Over and over, doing the wrong thing, sitting, work, not doing the right things, exercising, gaining weight. You know some of the common-sense things but it's cumulative trauma to the disc over time over time then there's an event that finally says it's time to either get help or live with it. Or cumulative trauma, for instance, uh well let's call it cumulative trauma and then there's a traumatic event. You may know because you're looking at this that I you've bent over and oh you felt something in your back. The guy, 30 to 45 years old who first thing in the morning he bends over and his back goes out and he's all this way crawling in the office. Many times, you may hopefully haven't experienced this but that usually oftentimes goes with it is a pinched nerve and that's in the form of Sciatica or other nerves in the back it depends on where it happened. As a general rule, if you have lower back pain, this issue's been diagnosed it should be treated conservatively at first, period. Chiropractic before ever considering back surgery. An advanced chiropractic association, you know my training I'm a board certified chiropractic orthopedics. Well, that's I'm a non-surgical orthopedist so you're going to get the diagnostics and the treatment but you're not going to get the surgery and medication from me, time and a place. But make chiropractic your first choice, not your last choice. All right, have a good day.
